It should be taken only as prescribed by the doctor. It may not be the same for everybody but it is generally prescribed to be taken on an empty stomach with a full glass (8 ounces) of water. The other things to kept in mind while taking drugs are:
- Capsules and suspension should be taken on an empty stomach 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.
- Avoid taking shortly after consuming an antacid that contains aluminum or magnesium as these antacids may decrease the effect. Some of these antacids include: Mylanta, Rolaids, Milk of Magnesia, Maalox, Pepcid Complete, and others.
- Measure the liquid form of dose-measuring spoon or cup and not a regular tablespoon to ensure that you are getting the correct dosage.
- Even if you are feeling better it is essential that you consume all the dosage that has been prescribed for you.
This drug should be stored at room temperature away from moisture and heat. If the suspension remains unused even after 10 days then it should be thrown away.
