There can be a few side effects that develop with the use of Amoxicillin. These include - stomach upset, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting during the first few days as your body adjusts to the medication. But if these side effects persist and become bothersome inform your medical practitioner.
It is unlikely that an allergic reaction to Amoxicillin will occur but if it does take place get immediate medical help. The usual symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness or trouble breathing.
The use of Amoxicillin for prolonged periods of time may result in a secondary infection like oral or vaginal yeast infection. Contact your doctor if you notice white patches in your mouth, a change in vaginal discharge or other new symptoms. How To Use Amoxicillin
The Amoxicillin tablets should be chewed thoroughly and followed by a full glass of water (8oz or 240ml). The medication should always be taken as directed by the doctor. The usual dose is taken every 8 or 12 hours.
Amoxicillin may be taken with or without food and it works best when the amount of medicine in your body is always at a constant level. It is therefore important to take Amoxicillin at regular intervals.
Complete the prescribed amount of Amoxicillin even if you feel that you have been completely treated. You may feel that you are no longer infected but the bacteria might still be present. Early stoppage of the use of Amoxicillin may result in the bacteria continuing to grow and this may result is a relapse of the infection.
